As I said yesterday, I had a great time shopping at the dollar store and Craft Warehouse. I was able to come home and decorate for Valentines day. Oh I had so much fun! I totally would have thought that all of the Christmas stuff would be long gone, but not at Craft Warehouse, they still have a ton. So I went on a hunt for things that could be used for Valentines day.
The little cute bird came from the dollar store, and in its former life looked like this,
It was fine but I wanted to take it up a notch, and shine it up with some berry pink spray paint.
Then I took a sharpie and added the eyes back on.
To make this 14 plaque, I found the neatest plaque cutout for only $2, so I had to have it. I had intentions of attaching the paper seen in the picture to it, but things did not go as planned. (Isn't that paper awesome. I will be going back for more.) So when I put the paper on, it was all funny and I tried to fix it, which ended up ruining it. I then tried to rip the paper off, but it was way stuck on with mod podge. So I ended up with a really weathered looking board. I painted it with several layers of paint, and I like the results. I then took wooden numbers, which were a dollar each, and painted them red. I then glued on some container filler from the dollar store to give it texture. I am digging the way it turned out. So my original plan did not work out but maybe it was for the better????
