Happy Friday!
When you drive through our neighborhood, the homes are beautiful and all nicely kept up. But there is NOTHING that stands out. Well I kind out like to stand out. I like a bit of the unexpected. Come to find out, our neighborhood homeowners association does not like unexpected, they DO like everything the same. Boring is good in their eyes, who knew?
Well shortly after adding some color to our door, I was informed, by another neighbor, that my house is on the naughty (unapproved paint color) list. Whoops. Well the association has never told me this in person so my yellow door still stands, proudly. It is so happy!
The color is Behr, wildflower honey. I also added a kick plate in oil rubbed bronze and a door knocker, that the guy at home depot sold me off of the display for $5. Gotta love a bargain!
Tell me what you think? Is it good to be on the "naughty" list?
Have a great day,
Shannon

ReplyDeleteHi Shannon, Love that you are a non-conformist! I too did some updates on my house without HOA permission, nothing as radical as yellow but I can appreciate the rebel in you. I also began bogging just this month, Jan1 to be exact. Your description of sitting and reading DIY/home decorating blogs while drinking your morning coffee sounds exactly like me. I had never read a blog before September but after stumbling on to pinterest and then into the world of home improvement blogging I was hooked. I hope you'll come over and be a follower at www.yankeedoodledesigns.com and maybe we could help each others blogs grow. I have learned a lot about blogging in just a few weeks, how to make headers and add buttons and all sorts of little tricks so if you have any questions, I might be able to help, I know I sometimes felt silly asking experienced bloggers such really basic questions but with a little help and a lot of time spent searching the web and trial and error I've figured out quite a bit and I would be happy to share what I have learned if you would like.

I love the yellow door! Super cheerful addition to the neighborhood. We've never crossed our HOA color-wise, but we did just install a new HVAC unit on the back of the house without asking permission (yeah, we're real rebels :-). I say you make them at least say something directly to YOU before you paint it another color.
